music & memories

The Asheville Choral Society is thrilled to bring a new program to area senior living communities in the spring of 2019. Music & Memories brings music to nursing centers, not only for the purpose of bringing joy and love into more lives in Western North Carolina, but to hopefully spark moments of memory for those who struggle with dementia and other memory loss. Funded by a generous grant by the Deerfield Episcopal Retirement Community Foundation, we are thrilled to bring more music to WNC seniors this spring.

While Music & Memories performances are not formal music therapy, we seek to build on existing research about how music can have a positive impact on those living with memory loss. Learn more about this research in the links below.

ACS will kick off this program with a concert at Deerfield Episcopal Retirement Community on May 19, 2019. If you are affiliated with a retirement community that might benefit from this program, contact info@ashevillechoralsociety.org to explore a possible partnership.
