As a select ensemble drawn from the Asheville Choral Society, Tempus offers a different kind of choral experience—smaller in scale, but no less ambitious in artistry.
From Silence… explores the transition from stillness into sound, inviting audiences to consider what happens in the moments before a voice emerges—and how individual voices become something greater when they come together.
The program creates space for listening, connection, and discovery, while showcasing the precision, expressiveness, and distinctive sound that have become hallmarks of Tempus.
For audiences who know the Asheville Choral Society but haven't yet experienced Tempus, this is an opportunity to hear the ensemble up close.

A Moment Worth Hearing
Something remarkable happens in the space between silence and sound.
This October, Tempus, the Asheville Choral Society’s select vocal ensemble, invites audiences to experience that space with From Silence…—an intimate concert exploring the powerful contrast between music and its absence.
And this performance comes at a particularly exciting moment for the ensemble.
Just one week after From Silence…, Tempus will take the stage at the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) North Carolina Conference in Asheville. Selected as one of a select group of ensembles invited to perform, Tempus will represent Asheville’s thriving choral community before an audience of leading choral conductors, educators, composers, and performing arts professionals from across the state and beyond.
Being selected to perform at the NC ACDA Conference on October 9 is a significant recognition of Tempus's artistic excellence.
The conference brings together leading choral professionals and provides Tempus with an opportunity to represent Asheville's vibrant choral community on a statewide stage.
